A recent report by the regulator revealed figures on the quality of the internet service.
The Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) published its most recent report on the quality of telephony and internet services in Colombia during 2018.
The entity evaluated in Barranquilla, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Manizales, Medellín, Neiva, Popayán, Quibdó, Santa Marta and Tunja, Bogotá, Cali, Cúcuta and Medellín the levels of unsuccessful calls, called falls, average speed, latency and web loading time.
The results show that in mobile and fixed data, although the changes were not significant, there was a slight advance in the loading time of the pages.
In the last year, the cities studied (with the exception of Bogotá) gained approximately two seconds of web access speed on their mobile devices. In the capital, the change was only 6.06 to 6.35 seconds between 2017 and 2018
On the fixed Internet, the city with the highest increase in download speed, between 2016 and 2018, was Medellín with an increase of 59 percent, followed by Cali (53%), Cúcuta (55%) and Bogotá (27%).
In both categories, Bogotá is the city of the country with the best rate loading time.
On the other hand, in cities such as Bucaramanga and Tunja there were improvements in mobile voice services. In the first, the rate of unsuccessful calls decreased by six points in the last two years. In the second, the percentage went from 7 to 1 in the last year.
For the director of the entity, Carlos Lugo Silva, "the quality of services is getting better and we are on the right track. However, there is still much to be done, especially in the fixed data service. "
