Tweets of politicians who violate the rules of the network will have "context"

The measure applies to accounts that are news and public interest.

Twitter plans to add "context" elements to some tweets that violate their usage rules , instead of deleting them. The measure is aimed especially at public interest accounts such as those of political figures such as Donald Trump.

"Twitter is exploring ways to provide more context around tweets that violate our rules, but which are newsworthy and of legitimate public interest ," the company said in a statement.

Twitter chief security officer Vijaya Gadde said in an interview during a technology forum at the Washington Post in San Francisco that Twitter is looking for ways to "put a bit of context around it so that people are aware that that Content is really a violation of our rules and fulfills a particular function by remaining on the platform. "

Also, the executive stressed that those trills that go too far, such as threats and violent incitement, will be eliminated no matter who publishes them.

Earlier this month, Trump stepped up criticism of political bias against technology firms after one of his key allies in Congress sued Twitter, accusing him of discriminating against conservatives. Twitter and other companies have vigorously denied criticism of this.
